How to Book and What to Expect

Booking Your Appointment

You can call us on (02) 6056 2011 or use our online booking system to book your child’s immunisation appointment at Elmwood Medical Centre.

What to Bring

  • Your child’s Medicare card to confirm eligibility for bulk billing and ensure the visit is covered at no cost to you.
  • A photo ID for the parent or guardian attending the appointment for verification purposes.
  • Any relevant immunisation history or forms from childcare or school so we can review what vaccines have already been given.
  • A list of vaccines you believe your child may need, or come ready to discuss your child’s immunisation status with the GP.

During the Visit

Your GP will review your child’s health and immunisation history to ensure they’re on track. They’ll explain which vaccines are due in line with the national immunisation program (Health and Ageing Australia+1) and answer any questions you might have. If everything is in order and you’re eligible for bulk billing, the vaccines will be administered and you’ll receive an Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) for your records.

If your child has missed doses or needs catch-up immunisations, your GP will create a plan to get them back on schedule.

Why This Service Matters

At Elmwood Medical Centre, we believe protecting your child’s health should be simple, affordable, and accessible in your local community. Offering Wodonga bulk billing childhood immunisations helps to:

  • Remove financial barriers for parents wanting to keep their children up to date with vaccinations, ensuring cost never stands in the way of protection.
  • Help maintain high immunisation rates in our community, which not only protects your child but also safeguards vulnerable residents who can’t be vaccinated.
  • Provide care from local, experienced GPs who specialise in children’s health and understand the unique needs of families in our area.

When Might Your Child Need More Than Routine Immunisations?

Routine immunisations cover the standard age-based vaccines that most children receive. But your child might need extra support if:

  • They have specific medical conditions or are considered immunocompromised, in which case additional vaccine doses, special timing, or different vaccine types may be recommended by your GP.
  • They have missed multiple vaccinations and need a personalised catch-up schedule, which your GP can arrange by referencing the official guidelines [Queensland Health+1] to ensure all gaps are safely filled.
  • They’re about to travel overseas and require travel-specific immunisations or an accelerated vaccine schedule to ensure protection before departure.

If any of these situations apply to your family, speak to your GP about a complete immunisation review to create the best plan for your child.
